Lithuanian Lovin' Summer Lovin' Wheat

Brewed: 08/15/2020   Kegged: 08/23/2020

Late summer of 2020, I had been playing around with a Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast that I got from Great Frontier brewing company.

I had already brewed Sveikas Lithuanian Farmhouse Ale and wanted to try some more.

I had also had my beer supply fairly severely depleted with graduation parties and out of town guests, and thought I needed to do a big batch to catch up.

So ... I decided to take one of my wife's favorite recipes, Summer Lovin' American Wheat and double it. Then, ferment half the batch on the standard US05 and half on the Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast.

Switched brew day to Saturday yesterday. Brewed with the Beer Model. Had to pick up ingredients and Got started late, but everything went real well. Had the Lithuanian in fermentor by 2pm. Was going strong in couple of hours. Summer Lovin slower to start.
08/16/2020 esheppy
Added .5 oz of ground coriander to Lithuanian fermentor. Tilt reads 1.017 at 87 degrees. Summer Lovin still not going yet.
08/17/2020 esheppy
Tilt says 1.002 at 85. Bubbling has pretty much stopped. SL going pretty strong at 64.
08/17/2020 esheppy
Added coriander to us05 fermentor.

Took a hydrometer sample of the LituanianFarmhouse. Calling the FG 1.006. I think clarity is ok for kegging. Nice flavor. A little pepper. A little citrus. Tastes pretty dry.
08/18/2020 esheppy
Kegged the Lithuanian. Tastes fairly clean to me.
08/18/2020 esheppy
Added orange zest of 1 orange to SL. About 3 oz.

Summer Livin clearing up nicely. Ready to keg any time. Lithuanian seems pretty well carbonated. Ready to drink any time 😋
08/23/2020 esheppy
Kegged sl. More orange flavor. Probably due to the orange zest added. FG at 1.008. I think the neer model is really going to like this beer.
